RETURNS, EXCHANGES & BREAKAGE POLICY

(Clear, fair, and aligned with handmade expectations)

Change of Mind

Because each piece is handmade in small batches, I’m unable to offer returns or exchanges for change of mind. Please choose carefully and feel free to reach out with any questions before purchasing.

Handmade Variations

Variations in shape, size, glaze, and finish are expected and embraced as part of the handmade process. These are not considered defects and are not eligible for return.

Faulty or Damaged Items

If your piece arrives damaged or faulty, I will happily replace it or offer a refund.

To help me resolve this quickly, please contact me within 48 hours of receiving your order with:

  • Your order number
  • A photo of the damaged item
  • A photo of the packaging (if applicable)

I will take care of the rest.

Breakages After Use

I’m unable to offer replacements or refunds for items that break due to everyday use, accidents, or mishandling.

Shipping Returns

If a return is approved (for damage or fault), I will cover the return shipping costs or provide a prepaid label.

PRODUCT CARE GUIDE

(Simple, clear, and reassuring — perfect for product pages or a dedicated care page)

To help your Sandy Hands Pottery pieces live a long and happy life, here are some gentle care recommendations:

General Care

  • Handle with care — handmade ceramics are strong but not indestructible
  • Avoid sudden temperature changes (e.g., freezer to oven)
  • Avoid dropping or knocking pieces against hard surfaces

Cleaning

  • All pieces are food-safe
  • Handwashing is recommended to preserve glaze quality
  • Use mild detergent and a soft sponge
  • Avoid abrasive scrubbers that may scratch the surface

Microwave & Dishwasher Use

  • Most pieces are microwave-safe
  • Dishwasher use is generally fine, but handwashing will extend the life of your ceramics
  • Avoid placing pieces near heating elements in the dishwasher

Stain & Mark Prevention

  • Matte glazes may show cutlery marks over time — this is normal for handmade ceramics
  • To reduce marks, avoid metal utensils when possible
  • Bar Keeper’s Friend or a gentle cream cleanser can remove light marks

Storage

  • Stack pieces gently to avoid rim chipping
  • Place a soft cloth or felt between stacked items if you want extra protection

Outdoor Use

  • Safe for outdoor dining, but bring pieces inside after use
  • Avoid leaving ceramics in direct sun for long periods
